2009
     Fifty participants from Albania, Armenia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Israel, Latvia, the former  Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Malta,  Montenegro, the Republic of Moldova, the Russian Federation, Serbia, Turkey, Ukraine and Romania attended  the works of the sub-regional seminar on "Modern Management of Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs)" organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization, in cooperation with the State Office for Inventions  and Trademarks of Romania, in Timişoara, from the 27th to the 28th of May 2009.
     Present were high-level representatives of IP Offices, government officials dealing with management of IPRs, distinguished representatives of Universities, the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, the Regional Centre for the Promotion of IP Protection in Timişoara.
     The main aim of the seminar  was to broaden the knowledge in preparing IP Offices strategies for modern management, for linking the IP Office activities to the promotion of economic development nationally and sub-regionally.Thanks to its  topical subject-matter and the excellent presentations made by speakers from the WIPO, European Patent Office, Eurasian Patent Organization, Torfaen (UK), State Intellectual Property Office in Croatia, OSIM,   and other  participating Offices,  the seminar has proved very useful  for the participants, providing an excellent opportunity for exchanging ideas and sharing their expertise.
2008
    In the period between 20 - 21.05.2008, the State Office for Inventions and Trademarks together with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) organized in Cluj-Napoca, Tulip Inn Sunny Hill Hotel, the international symposium “Methodologies, Best Practices and Lessons Learned for Development of National IP Strategies”.
This seminar honoured by the participation as lecturers of personalities from WIPO, European Patent Office, British Patent Office, State Office for Inventions and Trademarks and representatives from Albania, Bosnia, Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Macedonia, Malta, Republic of Moldova, Montenegro and Turkey, is the most important event relating to industrial property field, organized in our country in the last 3 years.
     Within the seminar there were delivered lectures, followed by exchanges of opinions on the use of best practices, at European level for the implementation of the intellectual property protection strategies.
     At the same time, another purpose of the seminar consisted in describing the national and regional development policies based on research-development and implementation of the results so that the innovation notion should have the position it deserves in the society.
     The representatives of the National Industrial Property Centres, specialists as well as county officials participated in the seminar.
 
    On the occasion of the Policy Advisory Commission, which will take place in Romania under the high patronage of the President of Romania, the General  Director of the World Intellectual Property Organization, Dr. Kamil Idris, accompanied by a WIPO delegation, will pay a visit to OSIM on November 13, 2003. This is the second visit of WIPO’s Director General in Romania, the first one taking place on the occasion of signing the Cooperation Programme between the Government of Romania and WIPO.
       On the same occasion an invitation was launched for a meeting with the Management of OSIM on November 15,2003 to Mrs. Alison Brimelow - Chief Executive, The Patent office of the United Kingdom, Mr. Bruce Lehman - President, International Intellectual Property Institute and Mr. Jorge Amigo Castañeda - Director General, Mexican Industrial Property Institute.
