PRESS RELEASE
At the invitation of the Director General of OSIM, from the  25th to the 28th of August 2008, Dr.  Biserka Strel, Director of the Slovenian Intellectual Property  Office will pay a visit to  OSIM. The Slovenian delegation also includes Mr Janez Kukek Mezek, Head of the Information and Promotion  Department.
The  visit is a concrete step towards the strengthening of the bilateral  relations between  OSIM and  other National Offices  of EU Member States.
Establishing cooperation relations among intellectual/industrial property offices  in their specific field of activity and  a continuous exchange of experience will contribute to the  development of the industrial property protection  system.
During the bilateral discussion, the heads of the two offices will make presentations on their respective offices, their history and organization, their role and specific activities.  There will also be an exchange of opinions on the topical subjects  in their field of activity, such as the latest developments in the EPO, OHIM and WIPO.
Discussions will explore the possible initiation of bilateral cooperation between the two Offices, aiming mainly at the exchange of information and experience,  expert missions, mutual support in promoting their interests before international industrial property fora..

PRESS RELEASE
In the period between 24-25 June this year, in Mangalia, there took place the meeting of the top management of the State Office for Inventions and Trademarks and of the Bulgarian Patent Office.
The purpose of this meeting was the signing of a long-term collaboration agreement between the two Offices, based on knowing and observing the industrial property rights, diminishing the phenomenon of producing and marketing counterfeited products as well as the information exchange carried out by alternative annual meetings, on which occasion the activity of the territorial industrial property centres was analyzed.
The meeting also marked the role of these centres in disseminating information on the protection by patents, trademarks or designs, both within the economic companies and university environment.
For this purpose, the representatives of Constanţa, Galaţi, Brăila and Dolj centres were invited to take part in the meeting.
The delegations of the two Offices were led by Mr. Gábor Varga - Director General of OSIM and by Mr. Kostandin Manev - President of the Bulgarian Patent Office

PRESS RELEASE
In the period between 10 -13 June this year, in the locality Szeged in Hungary there took place the meeting of the industrial property regional centres from Romania and the host country.
This action carried on under the slogan “new partners - new possibilities of cooperation in the intellectual property field”, was organized by OSIM and the Hungarian Patent Office, whose participants were the representatives of the regional centres and specialists of the two Offices, industrial property attorneys, scientists and local authorities.
On the occasion of this seminar, the delegates visited the University Library in Szeged, the Research Centre in the field of Biology, belonging to the Academy of Science of Hungary as well as other objectives representing the interest of the Hungarian authorities for the scientific research. At the same time, within the seminar works, the relationship between the regional centres - industrial property attorneys and the technical universities was dealt with.
This VI-th meeting between the regional centres of the two countries was carried on according to the aspects agreed upon in the common session of Romania’s and Hungary’s Governments in November 2007, when there was decided that there should be organized alternatively and annually seminars having as topics the industrial property centres activity in Romania and Hungary.

PRESS RELEASE
In the period between 5 - 7 June, this year, the President of the German Patent and Trademark Office, Mr. Jürgen Shade, paid a work visit to the State Office for Inventions and Trademark of Romania.
On this occasion, the Romanian delegation led by dipl. eng. Gábor Varga, Director General of OSIM, and the distinguished German guest analyzed together the manners and ways for the future cooperation of the two Offices in the industrial property protection field.
At the same time, there were highlighted the manners and ways to enhance the exchange of information and mutual assistance for solving any aspect of mutual interest. There were analyzed the cooperation possibilities concerning the exchange of information, institutional relationships the two office have with the scientific and professional media, development of specialized services for industry, information and communication techniques, etc.
At the end of the discussions a “Memorandum of Agreement on Bilateral Cooperation in Industrial Property Field” was signed.

PRESS RELEASE
In the period between 20 - 21.05.2008, the State Office for Inventions and Trademarks together with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) organized in Cluj-Napoca, Tulip Inn Sunny Hill Hotel, the international symposium “Methodologies, Best Practices and Lessons Learned for Development of National IP Strategies”.
This seminar honoured by the participation as lecturers of personalities from WIPO, European Patent Office, British Patent Office, State Office for Inventions and Trademarks and representatives from Albania, Bosnia, Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Macedonia, Malta, Republic of Moldova, Montenegro and Turkey, is the most important event relating to industrial property field, organized in our country in the last 3 years.
Within the seminar there were delivered lectures, followed by exchanges of opinions on the use of best practices, at European level for the implementation of the intellectual property protection strategies.
At the same time, another purpose of the seminar consisted in describing the national and regional development policies based on research-development and implementation of the results so that the innovation notion should have the position it deserves in the society.
The representatives of the National Industrial Property Centres, specialists as well as county officials participated in the seminar.

PRESS RELEASE
In the period between 10 - 11. 04. this year, at the headquarters of the State Office for Inventions and Trademarks there took place a bilateral meeting between the delegation of the Israel Patent, Trademark and Design Office represented by Mr. MEIR NOAM, Director General and Mrs SIMONA ARONOVICI, Director of Patent and IT Directorate and the top management of OSIM, represented by dipl. eng. Gábor Varga, Director General, dipl. eng ALEXANDRU CRISTIAN ŞTRENC, PhD, Deputy Director General and directors of some departments in the institution.
Within the bilateral discussions there were presented the main activities of the two institutions in the field of inventions, trademarks and designs with the comment of the statistic data highlighting these activities. At the same time there were established the common problems concerning the industrial property protection, that interest the two institutions, the manner and ways of the future cooperation.
There were discussed the text of a common declaration of intention which finally was accepted and then signed by the top management of the two institutions.

PRESS RELEASE
In the period between 26 -27 March, 2008, in the locality BAZNA, Sibiu County, there took place the “Annual OSIM - Regional Centres meeting”. The meeting aimed at analyzing the activity of the regional centres for industrial property and consolidating the role thereof in their field of activity.
The State Office for Inventions and Trademarks presented more materials relating to legislation (utility model, envelope Soleau), on-line filing of the applications, access to non-patent literature, OHIM - OSIM relationship etc.
At the meeting there took place the representatives of the regional centres who presented activity reports, presidents or vice-presidents of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the delegate of the Public Ministry. The OSIM top management, chiefs of compartments and divisions as well as the national coordinator of the regional centres were present.
The OSIM delegation was led by Mr. Gábor Varga, Director General.

PRESS RELEASE
On 26.02.2008, at the headquarters of the State Office for Inventions and Trademarks there was signed the Protocol for Collaboration between the State Office for Inventions and Trademarks and the National Library of Romania by lecturer Elena Tîrziman, PhD, Director General of the National Library and Mr. eng. Gábor Varga, Director General of the host institution.
By the signing of the Protocol there was established a stable and dynamic information-documentary search relationship between the two institutions, consisting in supplying materials elaborated and issued by OSIM with high impact on national and international plane.
The purpose of transmitting these documents is the dissemination of information presenting large interest for readers, the National Library facilitating the promotion of industrial property protection.

PRESS RELEASE
On 21.02.2008 at the headquarters of the State Office for Inventions and Trademarks there took place the meeting of the representatives of the General Directorate for Small- and Medium-Sized Enterprises, Home Trade and Cooperation, within the Ministry for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, Commerce, Tourism and Liberal Professions and the top management of the host institution.
The two institutions were represented by Messrs Csáka József, Director General of DGIMMCIC and Mr.Gábor Varga, Director General of OSIM.
Within the meeting there were briefly presented the activities and projects which the two institutions are involved in. There were identified the possibilities of collaboration on priority projects with European financing for the development of SMEs, particularly on the segment of rendering the awareness of the managers in the field of industrial property protection, financing, creating innovating SMEs and their functioning, and increasing their competitiveness, respectively.
The result of the meeting led to the idea of the necessity of achieving a cooperation-collaboration program between the two institutions, with a view to reaching the common goals resulting from the discussions on the priority programs in various carrying on stages, which will start with a program for training the representatives of the 11 territorial offices for SME and Cooperation, in the field of industrial property.

PRESS RELEASE
In the period between 04 - 08 February this year, a delegation from the republic of
Macedonia paid a work visit to the State Office for Inventions and Trademarks (OSIM). The purpose of this visit was an exchange of experience necessary for the
elaboration by the Macedonian party of a National Plan regarding the steps necessary for the enforcement of the intellectual property rights in the Republic of Macedonia.
The meeting organized under the auspices of the Program for Assistance of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) also facilitated contacts between the representatives of the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Research, Ministry of Home Affairs, State Police Inspectorate, Customs Administration for Foreign Affairs, with the members of the Macedonian delegation.
